Winter Work

Rick has been back and forth to Poland nearly every two weeks. Now that the basic structure of the building is up and roofed, Marek continues to work on the insulation and dry walling of the interior. The water line, gas line/furnace, electricity which includes exhibit lights are all installed. However, nothing will be turned on until the spring. At that time Rick and Dafna will be there to see that all is running well with no leaking. There will still be plenty of work taping, sanding and painting to do this coming summer.

WELDING 1

During these last several weeks, Rick has taken the time to begin the welding process on the seven bronze Holocaust figures which have already been cast although they are all in separate pieces. Each piece of bronze must be checked carefully for flaws and then ground around the edges to prepare them for welding together. So far, Rick has begun to weld arms to hands and feet to legs.

BRONZE PIECES

The weather has been sunny but very, very cold: the daily high of zero going to -20 Celsius at night. Nevertheless, Rick keeps comfortably warm in the 5 x 5 meter studio with a small wood burning stove and several layers of clothes.
