Darkness into Light
Rick and Dafna are in Poland for the whole of October. This is God’s timing! Rick’s earlier trips were to organize and meet with contractors who would be pouring the cement for the foundations for the building which will house the Fountain of Tears. It was a complex process because everything had to be translated from Polish into English and back again. Also, they could not be sure when and if the cement could be poured as the summer has been an unusually rainy one, plus the fact that the winter season is getting closer.
Just before they left Israel on the 1st October, they were told that a cement contractor had heard about the project and wanted very much to be involved. He also gave the best price quotation out of five others.
On October 2nd, Rick and Dafna stood on the property the very day the contractor and his team began digging. They used a back hoe to prepare for the installation of the metal forms that would hold the wet cement in place. By God’s grace, from this very day, the weather turned to become a warm and sunny autumn, perfect for the curing of cement.
On October 7th, five cement trucks began pouring as Rick and Dafna looked on. It was wonderful to see it happening. This foundation was totally finished by the 18th.
Yesterday morning, Rick and Dafna had a surprising gift. They had taken a friend out to the property in the morning around 11am. They had even been there the previous evening. As they were looking around that morning they noticed something totally unexpected sitting on the concrete foundation. As they approached, they saw that it was a small metal Menorah! It was just sitting there. No-one knows who brought it or how it got there. It was not there the day before.
It didn’t look like it came from Israel; there was no Hebrew writing on it. It didn’t look new but rather worn. Rick and Dafna decided to leave it there. They feel that this is a real encouragement from the Lord.
It reminds us that the Lord can turn the darkness into light. These are the words of the prophet Isaiah (42:16):
I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.
